Apple Creek offers Amish products, including jams, jellies, a variety of pickled foods, gummies and old-fashioned candy, Amish butter rolls, deli meats and cheeses, grains, dried beans, dried fruits, nuts and several gluten-free options like pancake mix and pasta. It also sells authentic Amish furniture and household goods. Before leaving, order a fresh-made sandwich from the deli in the back.
Store owner Greg Arlint opened the store at 875 N. Main Street in Willard in 2012, and Utahns “absolutely love it,” he said.
"I grew up among the Amish in St. Ignatius, Montana and in the grocery business," Greg stated. "My Amish neighbor has a store similar to Apple Creek so using my grocery background and our Amish connections we started Apple Creek on October 8, 2012."
Arlint and his employees stock the stores with products shipped from two main distributors: Troyer, in Ohio, and Dutch Valley, in Pennsylvania. These sources supply the majority of the store's meats and cheeses, jarred goods and bulk products.
The products are either produced by Amish people, purchased through Amish suppliers, or are the types of food the Amish like, Arlint said. The uniqueness and Amish factor draws people to his stores, “but people wouldn’t keep coming back if it wasn’t good quality.”
"We want to be a pleasant change from the often-hectic shopping experience," he said. "We want our customers to enjoy an old-fashioned atmosphere and unique products. Some people who either served a mission or grew up back East, they walk in and they instantly recognize it for what it is,” Arlint said. “It’s kind of old-fashioned and just good - quality stuff that Utahns really like.”
